SheerVue
Privacy Policy

How SheerVue handles information.

Effective date: August 3, 2026

Legal operator: Jared Pattison, Washington, United States

SheerVue and your account provider

SheerVue is an independent client. Bluesky or another AT Protocol account provider owns and manages your account, including account creation, credentials, handle, email, deactivation, and deletion. SheerVue does not create or host a separate SheerVue account.

Local app data and sign-in

SheerVue stores session credentials and app preferences locally on your device so the app can keep you signed in and remember your settings. OAuth sign-in is performed with your chosen account provider. SheerVue does not receive or store your account password.

Public AT Protocol content

SheerVue may request already-known public posts, profiles, and conversation context from Bluesky’s public APIs when authenticated views omit that content because of a block. The mobile app does not use ClearSky or send your DID to ClearSky. Bluesky and your AT Protocol account provider may receive normal request and network metadata under their own policies.

Location and age assurance

When age-assurance rules require it and you grant foreground location permission, SheerVue uses your device location to derive a country and region. Precise coordinates are used transiently on your device and are not sent to SheerVue or Bluesky. The derived country and region may be stored locally and sent to your Bluesky or AT Protocol account service, linked to your account, to determine the age-assurance requirements that apply. SheerVue does not request background or always-on location access.

Contacts and notifications

SheerVue does not import contacts and does not collect push notification tokens. In-app notifications may still be displayed from the account services you use.

Diagnostics and service providers

Some release builds may enable Bitdrift diagnostics and network instrumentation to help identify crashes, performance problems, and app/network failures. When enabled, Bitdrift processes diagnostic and network telemetry under its own privacy terms. If the Bitdrift API key is not configured for a build, Bitdrift diagnostics are disabled. Apple and your account provider may also process information needed for app distribution, sign-in, and network service under their own policies.

Retention, deletion, and choices

SheerVue keeps app preferences on your device until you clear them or remove the app. Session credentials remain in device secure storage until you sign out or remove the local account; on iOS, secure Keychain items may persist after the app is uninstalled. SheerVue cannot delete or change records held by Bluesky, another AT Protocol provider, Apple, Bitdrift, or Google; use the relevant provider’s controls and policies. You can decline or revoke app permissions in device settings, although a feature that needs that permission may not work. Support correspondence is retained for up to 12 months after the last response, unless longer retention is required for security or legal purposes.

Support and updates

If you contact support, the information you include may be used to respond, troubleshoot, and maintain support records. Support email may be forwarded to a mailbox hosted by Google and processed under Google’s terms. Do not include passwords, OAuth credentials, or other sensitive information. App distribution services may process the information they need to deliver updates.

Questions and changes

Privacy questions may be sent to support@sheervue.app. This policy may change as SheerVue’s features or service providers change; material updates will include a revised effective date.
